AIHA Announces Amazon as 2022 Future Leaders Institute Co-Sponsor

This year’s FLI will be attended by 40 IH/OEHS professionals early in their careers.

AIHA is pleased to announce that Amazon will co-sponsor the 2022 Future Leaders Institute (FLI), which will take place March 3–6 in Tampa, Florida.

Designed for attendees with 3–15 years of applied work experience, the FLI focuses on strengthening the leadership skills of young industrial hygiene (IH) and occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) professionals. FLI attendees participate in workshops to learn how to understand and leverage their strengths, interact with different personalities and work styles, and understand best practices for effective managers and leaders. Participants also receive training in strategic decision-making, integrating IH/OEHS into key business priorities, and increasing their contributions and scopes of influence as IH/OEHS professionals.

The American Industrial Hygiene Foundation (AIHF), awards scholarships for qualified IH/OEHS students.  Thursa La, senior manager of AIHF, expressed her profound gratitude to Amazon on behalf of the Board of Directors of AIHF, “Amazon’s generous support means that we can increase the impact that the Future Leaders Institute has on young industrial hygiene and occupational and environmental health and safety professionals.”

“At Amazon, we believe leaders raise the performance bar,” said Dr. Peter Lee, MD, the company’s global medical director. “We’re delighted to support these emerging ‘bar raisers’ in their contributions to safer and healthier workplaces around the world.”

This year’s FLI will be attended by 40 IH/OEHS professionals early in their careers, representing countries that include Ghana, Australia, Mexico, Zambia, and India. Four international attendees will also receive travel assistance through the Stephen C. Davis FLI Memorial Grant, which is provided by AIHF to support future global leaders in IH/OEHS.
