AIHA Announces ‘Back-to-Work Safely’ Guidelines and Resources
Occupational Health and Safety Professionals Develop Industry Specific Guidelines for Re-entry into the Workplace
COVID-19 has caused businesses in most industries to shut down. As businesses begin to reopen, occupational health and safety experts urge business owners to be aware of the special industrial health considerations that must be made before safely re-opening.
AIHA, a professional association for occupational health and safety science professionals who are committed to preserving and ensuring health and safety in the workplace and community, just announced the availability of industry specific guidelines and resources to help employers and employees get back to work safely. The guidelines for the retail, restaurant, hair and nail salon, construction industries and more include recommendations on ventilation, personal hygiene, physical distancing and enhanced cleaning. Other guidelines due to come out in the coming days are for gyms, home services (i.e. plumbers, pest control), and office environments.
The guidelines and other resources are available to download on a new website – www.backtoworksafely.org. Additionally, COVID-19 resources on PPE and re-entry into the workplace hazards can be found at AIHA Media Outreach Center.
The Back-to-Work Safely initiative is the most recent addition to a public relations campaign to clarify misinformation on PPE ventilation and disinfection and to educate employers and consumers about the hazards associated with re-entry into the workplace.
AIHA spokespeople continue to conduct national media interviews and have been interviewed by NPR, the Wall Street Journal, NYT, CNBC and more.
