Spangler will lead all aspects of the association’s internal operations, including finance, human resources, information technology, compliance, risk management, and facilities administration.
AIHA, the association for scientists and professionals committed to preserving and ensuring occupational and environmental health and safety in the workplace and community, is pleased to announce the promotion of Franky Spangler, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, to the role of managing director of operations. In her new role, she will lead all aspects of the association’s internal operations, including finance, human resources, information technology, compliance, risk management, and facilities administration.
Since 2018, Spangler has supported AIHA’s organizational and strategic business initiatives focusing on talent management, talent acquisition, and employee relations. She implemented the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to better meet the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s reporting guidelines and streamline the hiring process and helped improve workplace culture through diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training, staff appreciation and development, and other activities.
“We’re excited about Franky’s promotion to Managing Director of Operations,” said Lawrence D. Sloan, CAE, the CEO of AIHA. “Her leadership, hands-on experience in a variety of critical areas, and comprehensive knowledge of our internal systems make her the perfect fit for this essential role.”
“In her previous position as director of human resources,” added Sloan, “Franky showed great leadership in several areas, including the COVID-19 response, a smooth transition to the organization’s remote work policy, and employee engagement initiatives.”
A native of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Spangler holds a certificate in human resources from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts in German language and literature from George Washington University. Before joining AIHA, Spangler served as human resource manager for several companies, including The Neel Company, a nationally recognized civil engineering firm.
