AIHA Announces New 2020-2021 Board Members

The American Industrial Hygiene Association® (AIHA) announced the new members of its Board of Directors for 2020–2021. The new board members will be inducted at the association’s annual business meeting on Wednesday, June 3,which is expected to be held at AIHce EXP 2020 in Atlanta, Ga.

The candidates for the AIHA Board of Directors elections are recommended by the AIHA Nominating Committee, which is made up of volunteer members that represent professionals of different backgrounds and career stages, and engage in various volunteer groups and local sections.

“We are pleased to welcome our four newest members to our Board of Directors. They each have a unique background, with diverse experiences that make them an asset to AIHA’s board and the organization as a whole,” said Cynthia Ostrowski, CIH, chair of the 2020 Board of Directors Nominating Committee. “We are confident that they will provide valuable perspectives as we continue to execute AIHA’s strategy for a healthier workplace.”

The new AIHA Board officers and directors are as follows:

Donna S. Heidel, MS, CIH, FAIHA, was elected AIHA’s new vice president. She previously served on the AIHA Board of Directors from 2014–2020 and held the positions of director, treasurer-elect, and treasurer. She also serves on the American Industrial Hygiene Foundation’s Board of Directors. An AIHA member since 1988, Heidel has served on many committees over the years, including Exposure and Control Banding Committee, Opioids Working Group, and Nano and Advanced Materials Working Group. In 2011 and 2013, she was awarded the AIHA President’s Award. Heidel, a graduate of DeSales University and Temple University, works as national practice leader in industrial hygiene for Apex Companies, LLC, in North Carolina.

Bradley King, Ph.D., MPH, CIH, was voted as the new secretary elect. King, an AIHA member since 2015, served as a director on the AIHA Board of Directors in 2017 till present. He also served as chair of AIHA’s Technology Initiatives Strategic Advisory Group, 2019–2020, and as Board Liaison for the AIHA Standards Advisory Panel, AIHA Local Section Council/Advisory Group, and AIHA Student Local Sections Council. King, a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, Saint Louis University School of Public Health, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, is an industrial hygienist at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in Denver, Colorado.

Kimberly M. Castillon, CIH, a member since 1999, was elected as a director. She currently serves as the treasurer for the local AIHA section in western Massachusetts, and previously served as a director on the ABIH Board of Directors, and as a councilor for the Academy of Industrial Hygiene. Castillon, a graduate of Missouri Southern State University and Missouri State University, is the audit program manager for Region 1 of the U.S. Department of Labor OSHA, and lives in Boston, Massachusetts.

Bernard L. Fontaine, Jr., CIH, CSP, FAIHA, was elected as a director. An AIHA member since 1981, he was the former president and director of membership of the New Jersey AIHA, as well as served on the Special Interest Group (SIG) Fellow Committee, Government Relations Committee, and the Youth@Work Talking Safety Committee. Fontaine has also served on the Board of Directors for Workplace Health Without Borders-US branch. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma and Northeastern University, Fontaine is managing partner at The Windsor Consulting Group, Inc.
