Diversey and Slimstones B.V. Partner To Further Develop Plastics-Free Hand Care
LESSEAU® touchless solid soap dispensing technology offers a wide range of sustainability benefits to a growing market.
Diversey, a Solenis company, has signed an agreement with Netherlands-based Slimstones to collaborate on further developing the highly sustainable, award-winning LESSEAU® solid soap dispensing technology. By teaming up, the two companies intend to expand this innovative technology to meet the growing need of eliminating single-use plastics from hand hygiene platforms.
Building from LESSEAU’s success in the Netherlands, Diversey is now launching this innovation in other European countries and intends to become the first company to offer a proven solid soap dispensing system globally.
“There is an imperative to remove plastic waste from our environment, and the market is hungry for solutions. The LESSEAU system unlocks the sustainability benefits of solid soaps, eliminating single-use plastics,” says Gaetano Redaelli, Global Business President, Institutional Solutions and Chief Technology Officer, Diversey. “Through our partnership, we will leverage our expertise and global reach to bring further sustainability benefits to even more customers. It complements our existing hand hygiene portfolio extremely well.”
“Diversey has a tremendous record of delivering innovations that promote sustainability, aligning with our vision for this unique system,” said Marcel Magermans, CEO and Founder of LESSEAU and co-owner of Slimstones. “Together, we can bring the award-winning LESSEAU technology to a wider market more quickly.”
Although the benefits of solid soaps have been recognized for years, the challenge has been to offer professional dispensing platforms suitable for commercial applications. Slimstones met this challenge by creating the no-touch LESSEAU system. The stylish LESSEAU dispenser won both the International Red Dot Design Award and If Product Design Award.
Compared to liquid soaps, LESSEAU soap bars contain less water and are significantly smaller, lighter and simpler to package. This offers substantial benefits:
Reduces supply chain burdens around transportation, storage and handling.
Enables the elimination of all plastics packaging to allow users to meet “zero plastics” targets when supplied — the LESSEAU system only uses fully recyclable cardboard and paper packaging.
Significantly reduces CO₂ emissions when considering all environmental aspects.
