Industrial Scientific Introduces Unlimited Runtime for Radius BZ1 Area Monitors and RGX Gateways

New Solar Power Supply provides portable, continuous power to area monitors in hazardous or remote locations.

Industrial Scientific, the global leader in gas detection and connected safety, is pleased to announce the new Solar Power Supply for the Radius® BZ1 Area Monitor and RGX® Gateway. The Solar Power Supply provides a portable, continuous power source for up to two devices simultaneously, eliminating the cost and risk of charging or rotating equipment in hazardous or remote locations.

The Solar Power Supply eliminates three critical area monitoring challenges: runtime, hazard certifications, and portability. Solar panels provide unlimited runtime for up to two Radius BZ1 Area Monitors, RGX Gateways, or a combination of the two, while a CSA Class 1 Div 2 certification ensures safety in even the most hazardous locations. A portable, modular design allows a single worker to transport and assemble the Solar Power Supply. By addressing these common challenges, the Solar Power Supply makes it easy and efficient to monitor gas hazards in any outdoor location.

“The Solar Power Supply offers unparalleled convenience by eliminating the time, expense, and risk of sending workers into remote or hazardous areas to rotate units or charge batteries,” said Jason Kettler, product manager at Industrial Scientific. “We’re excited to give users the unlimited runtime they need in a safe and portable package.”

By powering both a Radius BZ1 Area Monitor and an RGX Gateway simultaneously, the Solar Power Supply enables live monitoring and increased visibility in traditionally hard-to-monitor areas. The Solar Power Supply is ideal for pipeline monitoring, emergency response, fence line monitoring, tank farm monitoring, and more. With just four hours of sunlight, the Solar Power Supply can power up to two instruments for 7-10 days. It is compatible with all existing Radius BZ1 and RGX Gateway units.
